The itch to go overseas for a day (or two) to the Bahamas has just gotten more easy and easier to scratch. Resorts World Bimini has officially opened its port in Bimini and recently expanded its existing service to include departures from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale to the island destination that feels like it’s half a world away. All aboard!
Bimini SuperFast had its maiden voyage on Thursday, September 18 and will offer service from Port Everglades to Bimini every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting on October 14 at 9 a.m. This itinerary complements an existing itinerary that originates in Miami on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Resorts World Bimini will now attract and reach an eager market of day-trippers in Broward and Palm Beach counties as well as points north. These convenient crossings will make the Bahamas even more accessible to Floridians looking to get away from it all, if only for a day.
SuperFast can accommodate 1,200 passengers. Along with the ease of embarkation (passports are not required; a copy of your birth certificate and a driver’s license or other government-issued ID will suffice), the vessel is fitted with full service restaurants, bars and a casino, so the getaway vacation can begin immediately. A little more than two hours after departing Florida, you arrive into a port that is built directly on the resort in Bimini and have about six hours to relax, play and explore.
The resort itself boasts bars and six restaurants from casual eateries (a pizzeria and bakery or RW Hemingway’s, the Bahamian sports bar) to fine dining at Savor, the elegant steak and seafood restaurant that features picturesque marina views and a chef-inspired menu. And if the beauty of Resorts World Bimini isn’t enough, consider this: the casino is the first in the world to offer breathtaking marina views.
Future plans are in place to create permanent customs and immigration facilities and to expand the marina’s offerings with a beach-club experience that will include a variety of onsite water sports, dining and a local craft market.
Whether you choose to enjoy your day exploring the resort or prefer to take a tram into town, Resort World Bimini and SuperFast will surely be a part of the unforgettable experience of cruising to the Bahamas. It’s a kid-friendly island with kid-friendly fares. Children sail free with adult ticket purchase!
