Guilt-free getting

When you attend an event like the second annual Shop ‘Til you Drop, you better ditch the stilettos and opt for flats, or girl, you’ll be carrying your Louboutins out the door only to return home having to ice your aching dogs.

This wasn’t just any event. Let’s face it, it’s hard enough just keeping up with the ladies who lunch, never mind the ones who are also savvy shoppers.

The Club at Admiral’s Cove played host to a fun-filled day that included a buffet lunch as well as a spread any shopper would drool over with wares beckoning to be bought. The event was a dream come true for shopaholics with a keen sense of style.

But no worries, spenders could shop with a clean conscious because it was all in the name of charity – a total win-win.

Vendors from all over Palm Beach County flaunted their wares in fashion, accessories and home décor for buyers to grab up, making gifting a breeze. The event, which took place December 14, came just in time for the holiday season.

“It was a fabulous day of food, fashion and fun,” said Susan Sachs, event co-chair. “We had such a wonderful response from vendors and attendees that we look forward to doing it again next year.”

The 200 fashionistas left with shopping bags bursting at the seams, raising approximately $65,000 for the MacArthur Beach State Park’s Natural Science Education Fund. The organization provides education with a hands-on approach to learning for more than 5,000 Palm Beach County school children every year. The free program teaches the fundamentals, ensuring that kids get excited about science by weaving the learning into activities that are not only educational but also fun.

“The event went off without a glitch,” said fellow event co-chair Marianne Gold. “Attendees shopped, socialized and enjoyed a lovely lunch. We are very pleased with the results and grateful to the committee and volunteers for making it such a success.”
