Forget Gucci; this is pawfectly Pucci

More than 200 dog lovers and their four-legged babies will strut their stuff down the red carpet for the most tail-wagging event of the season, the third annual Fabulous Fur-Baby Cotillion at the swank Abacoa Golf Club on June 11 from 6-10 p.m.

Abacoa Golf Club has apparently gone to the dogs, as this very chichi event will attract only the height of canine society.

“There’s nothing like it,” said Laura Souza, owner of G Girl Productions and event coordinator. “It is the only event in the country where you go to a five-star country club and you’re served a four-course meal right alongside your dog.”

Co-hosted by G Girl Productions and Doggie Bag Café, the event will raise money for Florida Yorkie Rescue.

I absolutely love what Florida Yorkie Rescue is trying to do,” said Souza. “They’re building a property haven for senior citizen dogs – all breeds. This benefits dogs owned by elderly people. When the owner passes away, it’s very hard to get their senior dogs adopted. It’s almost like an assisted living or retirement home for these elderly dogs who may have medical problems or may be hard to adopt because of their age. It’s a place for them to be able to live out their lives.”

The Fabulous Fur-Baby Cotillion is no ordinary dog show; both dogs and owners come dressed to the nines in tuxes and jewel-studded gowns.

“Your dogs are served a four-course meal at the table by the Doggie Bag Café [with] white-glove service on silver trays,” said Souza.

Entrées include beef, organic chicken and wild salmon – and that’s just for the dogs

The evening will include live entertainment and several contests and activities such as the Brag Walk of Fame, Debutante and Gentle Fur Boy, the Most Accomplished Dogs, Most Photogenic, Mr. and Miss Cotillion, and one lucky dog from out of town will win Ambassador of the Cotillion. Awards for costume design will also be given out.

The Abacoa Golf and Country Club is located at 105 Barbados Dr. in Jupiter. Tickets are $77.87 per person. Click here for more information or to purchase tickets.
