Michelle's-blog-224The Stuart Air Show will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year with a number of firsts, including demonstrations of the US Air Force’s F-22 Raptor and the US Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier. The event runs Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 at Witham Field in Stuart

“With only six Marine Corps Harrier demonstrations and only 19 Air Force Raptor demonstrations being flown in North America this year, we are extremely fortunate to be able to showcase both at our 2014 show,” said Don McGlynn, president of the Stuart Air Show. “These jets have incredible capabilities that will blow your mind. This is not an air show to be missed.”

Even after dark, the show goes on with multiple aerobatic performers who will be taking to the sky at sunset, some with pyrotechnics.

Over the course of the show, visitors will have the opportunity to explore vintage and modern aircraft, including a DC-3 from the 1930s, a Beechcraft T-34 Mentor from the 1940s, and a Sikorsky BLACK HAWK Helicopter.

The fun-filled weekend is an event for the entire family, with special attractions including a Kids Zone sponsored by the YMCA of the Treasure Coast that will feature arts and crafts, amusement rides and a number of activities for kids of all ages.

“The Stuart Air Show has become known as Stuart’s Greatest Family Adventure, and is the largest event on the Treasure Coast,” said Elisabeth Glynn, executive director of the Stuart Air Show. “It’s an exciting community event that brings all walks of life together for the excitement and appreciation of aviation.”

Proceeds from the air show, which is presented by Sikorsky Aircraft and Pratt & Whitney,  support a number of nonprofits and community. These include the Road to Victory Military Museum, the Martin County Community Foundation and ARC of Martin County, as well as other organizations.

Since the show coincides with Halloween, they’ve incorporated some spooktacular activities as well.

“Trick or Treating and Costume Contests for both kids and adults will add even more fun to the spectacular nighttime aerobatic performances, fireworks display, and live music,” Glynn said.

Witham Field is located at 2011 SE Airport Rd. in Stuart. Tickets purchased before Oct. 23 are $10 and $15 after. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit www.stuartairshow.com.
