A blooming good time

Five couples with a flair for floral will compete to see who can create a masterpiece arrangement in just 25 minutes at Bubbles & Bouquets. The May 15 event at the Binks Forest Golf Club in Wellington benefits the charity Petals With Purpose.bubbles

“This is a really fun event to be at,” said event chair and midday host on 93.5 FM The Bar, Jay Zeager. “Binks Forest Golf Club is a great place to spend a Sunday having brunch on the veranda, mimosas and watching the couples build the arrangements. It’s not a high-priced event and you get the full brunch, bottomless mimosas, a fantastic dessert bar and some great silent auction items.”

For five local prominent Palm Beach couples – specifically, Camryn Del Rio Linton and Omari Linton, Karyn and Evan Turk, Christie and Bettina Gannon, Shay and John Discepolo, and Ryan Beckett and his mystery date – it’s on.

“They are given all the tools – blooms, filler, blocks, shears, tape and a basket, and 25 minutes to build an arrangement,” said Zeager. “We also allow them to bring in a secret weapon to add to their arrangement. At the end, we auction off the arrangements and the couple with the most money raised through ticket sales, donations and the arrangement is the winner.”

All proceeds go towards Petals With Purpose, a local charity that arranges pick-up of floral arrangements from weddings, celebrations, corporate and charity events and then delivers them to nursing homes, hospitals, shelters and hospice care facilities.

“We want everyone to come out and enjoy but we also want them to understand what Petals With Purpose is all about,” said Zeager. “We’re very thankful for everyone who donates their arrangements from weddings, galas and other events. The smiles that we see on people’s faces when we deliver to the hospitals, nursing homes and shelters is really what it is all about.”

Tickets are $75 per person. For more information, go to www.bubblespwp.com or contact Event Chair Jay Zeager at (561) 281-9270.
